I graduated in Japanese Language and Literature at the University of Turin with a thesis on filmmaker Kurosawa Kiyoshi. During my university years, I was one of the founders of the cultural association neo(N)eiga, the first Italian portal dedicated to contemporary Japanese cinema, and I collaborated with the National Museum of Cinema in Turin on several initiatives related to Japanese cinema. Afterwards, I obtained a Ph.D. in Digital Humanities (Art and Entertainment Program) from the University of Genoa. My research areas are Cinema and Japanese visual culture, along with Manga Translation.  I have written, among other works, the following monographs on Japanese cinema: Horror dal Giappone e dal resto dell’Asia [Horror from Japan and Eastern Asian Countries] (Profondo Rosso, 2005), Mondi che cadono – Il cinema di Kurosawa Kiyoshi [Falling Worlds – The Cinema of Kurosawa Kiyoshi] (Il Castoro/Museo Nazionale del Cinema, 2007), Toshirō Mifune [id.] (2011, L’Epos), and To the Digital Observer: il cinema giapponese contemporaneo attraverso il monitor [To the Digital Observer – Contemporary Japanese Cinema Through the Monitor] (2019, Mimesis). Since 2004, I have been working as a manga translator, mainly for the “Planet Manga” section of Panini S.P.A. Among the various series I translated: Death Note, Beastars, Eden, Blame!, Knights of Sydonia, Gantz, Hunter X Hunter, Saint Seiya – Episode G, Sket Dance, Hikaru no go. To a lesser extent, I have also dealt with audiovisual translation (Death Note, Neon Genesis Evangelion – Death and Rebirth/The End of Evangelion, Paradise Kiss). I am currently a non-tenure track assistant professor (RTDA, SSD L-OR/22) at the University of Milano-Bicocca, where I teach Japanese Language and Culture. Previously, I taught manga translation for four years at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and Modern Cultures of the University of Turin, Master’s Degree Course in Translation, and Japanese Language for two years at the University of Bergamo, Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures.  I am also a member of the editorial staff of the Cinergie – Il cinema e le altre arti academic journal.
